WHAT MAiD IS IN THE U.S.
Medical Aid in Dying (MAiD) is a medical practice in which a terminally ill, mentally capable adult requests and receives medication they may take to bring about a peaceful death.
It is always voluntary. It is always patient‑led. It is available only to people who meet strict legal and medical criteria.
MAiD is one option at the end of life — alongside hospice, palliative care, comfort‑focused treatment, and stopping or declining medical interventions.
