WHAT MAiD IS NOT IN THE U.S.

MAiD is not suicide. It is not assisted suicide. It is not euthanasia. It is not a way to end life for people who are not already dying.

MAiD is not available for people with dementia who cannot make their own medical decisions, and it is not available for people with mental illness as their sole condition.

MAiD does not replace hospice or palliative care. It does not pressure people toward any end‑of‑life choice. It does not allow anyone other than the patient to decide.
