Non-Advocacy Group Launches Website for Medical Aid in Dying
MINNEAPOLIS — June 15, 2026 — A new website designed to clarify public misunderstandings about medical aid in dying (MAiD) is now online at usmaid.org
The site, created by Mona Pearce, founder of the U.S. MAiD Public Health Education Initiative, provides neutral, U.S.-specific explanations of terminology used in medical aid in dying. The Initiative does not encourage or discourage the practice; its purpose is to offer clear, factual information for terminally ill, mentally capable adults who live in jurisdictions where self‑administered medical aid in dying is authorized.
The website distinguishes between medical aid in dying in the United States and medical assistance in dying in Canada, two terms that describe different legal and clinical frameworks but are often conflated in public conversation.
The U.S. MAiD Public Health Education Initiative is an independent, non‑advocacy project focused on improving public health communication about medical aid in dying. It provides clear, U.S.-specific terminology to support more consistent public understanding. The Initiative does not offer legal, clinical, or policy guidance; its purpose is to make foundational information accessible in one place.
